Gradual growth of incrustations during natural well ageing
A 10 % decrease of yield can already be a sign of natural well ageing, thus its cause should be identified. Regular removals of soft incrustations at this stage lengthen the production time of the well virtually indefinitely - whereby the cost, time and effort are minimal.
Free pore space. Slow formation of Incrustations due to lack of catalyst.
Layer of iron oxides acts as a catalyst. Accelerated formation of incrustations.
Exponential growth of incrustations after an incomplete well rehabilitation
If a well rehabilitation is not fully completed the surface area of the remaining iron oxide incrustations becomes larger than before. The oxidization process increases due to the catalytic efficiency of iron(III), i.e. the well rehabilitation acts as a catalyst.
Open surface after an incomplete rehabilitation=activation of catalyst causing accelerated formation of incrustations
– thick incrustations
– pore space filled with iron oxides
– tiny usable pore channels
The older and more crystalline incrustations become, the more time and cost intensive is their removal.
